SwampDogs Route Lexington County 12-2

The SwampDogs defeated the Lexington County Blowfish on Monday night 2-2.  For the SwampDogs it was their third straight win and fourth in five games.  In those four wins the SwampDogs have outscored their opponents by a combined 31 runs to two.

The SwampDogs scored in the first inning as Konner Piotto doubled with one out and came in to score when Alex Kachler reached on an error.  Lexington County scored in the second inning on a wild pitch.  That tied the game at 1-1.

The SwampDogs re-took the lead in the bottom of the second when Piotto singled in two runs.  Piotto had three RBIs on the night in total.  The SwampDogs led 3-1 after two.  The SwampDogs added on that lead in the fourth inning, as they sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs.  The highlight was a Carson Bartels double that scored two.  The SwampDogs took a 8-1 lead into the fifth.

The Blowfish added a run in the seventh inning, but that was answered with a two run seventh and two run eighth by the 'Dogs.

Pitching was stellar once again by the SwampDogs.  Josh Plummer went 3 innings, only allowing one run on a pair of hits.  SwampDog newcomer Corey Martinez made his debut and was impressive as he pitched 3.2, allowing no runs on three hits, no walks and struck out six.  Brandon Talley, who started the game at first base pitched the last 2.1 and struck out five.  The trio struck out 15 of the 27 batters they recorded outs against.

The SwampDogs are at home again Tuesday as they host the Wilmington Sharks.  Tuesday is also "Bike Night" and Tattoos-Day at The Swamp.  Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch will be at 7:05.
