SwampDogs And Sharks Split Double Header

The SwampDogs and Wilmington Sharks split a double header on Thursday.  The SwampDogs won game one 3-0 and lost game two 11-4.

In the first game, the SwampDogs got on the board in the third inning on a Bailey Lewis home run to left field.  The SwampDogs added 2 runs in the fourth on a Brandon Talley double that scored Alex Kachler.  Talley scored two batters later on a KC Brown single.

Seth Beard opened the game for the 'Dogs going two innings, allowing just two hits one walk and struck out five.  Matt Voderschmidt came on in relief in the third inning and was spectacular.  Vonderschmidt pitched 4.1, allowing no runs on three hits and also struck out five.  He was credited with the win.  Adam Erickson came in with one out in the seventh, struck out one and picked up the save.

Game two was a much different story for the SwampDogs.  The Sharks scored six runs in the second inning, capped off by a grand slam.  They never looked back from there.  Brandon Talley scored three of the four SwampDogs' runs, one of which came on a solo shot home run in the second.  The SwampDogs never got within more than four runs of Wilmington the rest of the night.

The SwampDogs travel to Holly Springs to play the Salamanders tomorrow.  They return home on Saturday to take on Holly Springs again.  Saturday is the 15th Annual Family Fun Night at the Swamp and the first 500 fans will receive a Fun-Go bobblehead, powered by Lumbee River EMC.  Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch will be at 7:05
