SwampDogs Drop Heart Breaker To Morehead City On Summertime Saint Patty's Night

The Luck of the Irish didn't come through for the SwampDogs on Summertime Saint Patty's Night.  The SwampDogs fell to the Morehead City Marlins on Thursday 5-4.  The loss snapped a five game winning streak by the 'Dogs.

The Marlins scored a run in each of the first three innings, as the second batter in each of those innings walked and came around to score.  The SwampDogs got all of their runs in the second inning.  Two came on a two-run home run by Brandon Talley.

The error bug came around to haunt the SwampDogs in the fifth.  After getting the first two outs, the SwampDogs committed an error on a throw to first to extend the inning and then surrendered a home run on the next batter to make the game 5-4.  The loss drops the SwampDogs to 13-11 on the season.

The SwampDogs next game is tomorrow as the SwampDogs travel to Holly Springs to play the Salamanders.  The next home game is Saturday night as the SwampDogs host the Wilmington Sharks.  It is Margaretville Night at the Swamp.  Fans are encourages to wear Hawaiian shirts and be ready to party with us.  Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.

Next Wednesday is July 3rd and will be the biggest night of the year for the SwampDogs.  Gates will open at 5 PM and there will be a huge fireworks extravaganza following the game.  Tickets are quickly selling out for this game, so to ensure your spot call (910) 426-5900.
