SwampDogs Bury Snakes, Win Fifth Straight

 by Jordan Lank

The Fayetteville SwampDogs picked up their fifth victory in a row Wednesday night as they defeated the Asheboro Copperheads at McCrary Park 10-5.

Alex Kachler recorded a three-hit, three-RBI night, highlighted by a line-drive homer to right field to swing the momentum back to the SwampDogs' side.

Kachler's blast came after the Copperheads scored five runs in the fourth inning before an out was recorded. Fayetteville punched back with five unanswered runs to five them the win.

Sean McGeehan started the scoring in the first with an RBI double off the left-field wall. Kachler then plated McGeehan with a sacrifice fly.

Brett Brown continued his hot streak, driving in two runs. Will Karp flashed his speed and scored from second on a fielder's choice to contribute one of those runs.

Karp picked up a two-run double of his own in the sixth, turning in a 2-3 night.

Matt Bradley made his first SwampDogs start and cruised through three innings. He struggled to get an out in the fourth, but CJ Fehribach came on in relief to stop the bleeding.

Fehribach provided another quality outing, throwing two innings and allowing just one hit on the night. Fehribach has not allowed a walk all season.

Price Adams turned in another scoreless appearance, hurling two innings and striking out three. Adams has now recorded nine scoreless outings in ten tries.

The SwampDogs return home Thursday for Summertime St. Patty's Day at "The Swamp" versus the Morehead City Marlins. Gates open at 6 PM and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
