SwampDogs Score Four In The Fifth; Never Look Back

On an evening that saw a little bit of everything, including a rare defensive feat, the SwampDogs defeated the Holly Springs Salamanders, 9-6 on Sunday.

The SwampDogs first threat of the game came in the third inning when they had two runners on and nobody out.  The SwampDogs rally was erased however, on a rare 5-4-3 triple play.  The Salamanders would then score two in the bottom of that inning to strike first.

The SwampDogs scored their first run in the fourth inning on a Brandon Talley single.  A fielding error helped the SwampDogs get their four run, fifth inning started.  The inning also saw a sacrifice fly by Sean McGeehan and RBI single by Austin Bost.

The Salamanders got within a run in the sixth, but that was answered with two by the SwampDogs in the seventh on a two run RBI double by Alex Kachler.

The SwampDogs added an insurance run in the ninth. Despite a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning by the Salamanders, the SwampDogs held on and were able to secure the win, to improve to 10-10 on the season.

The SwampDogs will stay on the road Monday, as they travel to Wilmington to play the Sharks.  The next home game is Tuesday, also against the Sharks.  Tuesday is Christmas at the Swamp, as the SwampDogs will celebrate Christmas in June.  Gates will open at 6:00 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
