The SwampDogs fell to the Highpoint-Thomasville HiToms 11-2 on Friday night. The SwampDogs committed four errors and the pitching staff surrendered two home runs on the night.
The lone two SwampDogs runs came in the fifth. Sean McGeehan reached on a throwing error that scored Jackson Webb and Ben Norman. They scored two runs on eight hits and were not able to collect timely hits with runners in scoring position.
The night though was highlighted by the pre and post-game festivities. The Black Daggers parachute team jumped from the sky and dazzled the fans. There was a presentation of the "Missing Man Table", the 82nd Army Chorus sang the National Anthem with a color guard present and the American Legion Riders brought their bikes on the field.
The fireworks show capped off the night. A booming display of pyrotechincs accompanied by music put the fans in awe.
"That show was awesome", said SwampDogs fan Chris Locklear. "My wife Kristine and I come here all the time and are celebrating our wedding anniversary here next week!"
The SwampDogs are on the road tomorrow as they travel to Holly Springs to play the Salamanders. Their next home game is evening as they host the Ahsboro Copperhead. It is Father's Day and the first 500 dads will receive a pair of decked out socks courtesy of Lumbee River EMC. Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
