SwampDogs Score Early And Often; Beat Catawba Valley 9-2

The Fayetteville SwampDogs defeated Catawba Valley for the second time this year by a score of 9-2.  The SwampDogs scored three runs in the first inning on three hits.  The first run came via an error at second, with Pearce Howard batting.  Will Karp, who was hit by a pitch to lead off the game scored from second base.  The SwampDogs added two more runs on singles from Ben Norman and Brandon Talley.

After a run in the third to make the game 4-0, the SwampDogs added two in the fifth on a two run home run from Austin Bost.  After Catawba Valley answered with two runs in the sixth, the SwampDogs responded with two in the sixth of their own and one in the eighth.

The SwampDogs biggest stat of the night was error free defense.  They also made a few gem plays in the field, including a diving catch by Will at Shortstop on a line drive, late in the game.

The SwampDogs next game is tomorrow night as they host the Morehead City Marlins.  It is "Fishin' In The Park" night and a lucky fan will win a guided fishing trip.  Tomorrow night is also Wellness Wednesday, presented by 5 Star Nutrition, Regymen Fitness and The Renaissance European Spa.  Gates open at 6:00 and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
