The Fayetteville SwampDogs have announced the signing of two Texas A&M freshmen and a West Georgia product as the newest additions to their 2019 roster. West Georgia right-handed pitcher CJ Fehribach, Texas A&M infielder Brett Brown and right-handed pitcher Justin Ruble will suit up for the SwampDogs come the start of the play in late May.
Fehribach, a junior from Douglasville, Ga., has had an impact season out of the bullpen thus far for the Wolves. A .215 batting average against in 35.2 innings of relief highlight Fehribach's success, while he's added 31 strikeouts and 14 walks to his stat sheet as well.
"CJ is an extremely tough kid that we are grateful to have on our staff this summer," SwampDogs head coach David Anderson said. "Coming off an injury, he looks better than ever and brings a closer mentality to our staff... (and) brings great leadership to our team."
Brown, from Godley, Texas, hasn't had much time to showcase his skills at the collegiate level in 2019. In 13 at-bats, Brown has a hit and an RBI, but has only appeared in eight games this spring. However, Brown's fall campaign with the Aggies has Anderson hopeful about the freshman's impact on the SwampDogs this summer.
"Brett had a great fall for the Aggies," Anderson said. "He's an extremely talented and versatile player that will help us at a variety of positions. Brett has a bright future and we can't wait to see what he brings to the table this season."
Ruble, another freshman from Tomball, Texas, has not appeared in a game for the Aggies thus far. But, an extensive high school resume has Anderson excited about what Ruble can do collegiately and in the CPL. For Tomball High School, Ruble earned Rawlings/Perfect Game Texas All-Region First Team honors and All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2018, and was named an All-District 20-5A Second Team pitcher.
"Justin is another very talented player who has come into his own… He is a physical presence who commands the zone with multiple pitches. He is another guy who will help bolster our rotation this summer," Anderson said.
The SwampDogs begin their 19th summer of fun on May 28th, as they host Catawba Valley. Season tickets, bundled tickets and group tickets are on sale now. Single game tickets go on sale May 1st.
