From One Dog To Another; SwampDogs Fetch A Huskie

Cole Swiger is the latest player to be added to the SwampDogs roster for 2019.  The junior from Bloomsburg University is off to a fast start to the Huskies spring season.  In just four games, Swiger is hitting .467 with four home runs and eight RBIs.  He has also stolen three bases on three attempts.

"Cole is another all around player who simply does everything well" said SwampDogs head coach, David Anderson. "He will bring great experience to our team this summer as a player who has started every game since stepping foot on a college baseball field. He is a complete hitter that will help us both in our order and in the outfield!"

Last year as a sophomore, Swiger appeared in 51 games, starting all of them and scored a team high 50 runs with a .339 batting average.  Swiger is also a two time Conference Scholar Athlete.

The SwampDogs begin their 19th summer of fun on May 28th, as they host Catawba Valley. Season tickets, bundled tickets and group tickets are on sale now. Single game tickets go on sale May 1st.  The SwampDogs are a member of the Coastal Plain League. Heading into its 23rd season in 2019, the CPL features 16 franchises playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. To date, the CPL has had over 1,450 alumni drafted and 116 alums – including 2017 American League Champion Series Most Valuable Player, 2017 World Series champion, 2011 American League MVP and Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander, as well as 2017 National League Championship Series MVP Chris Taylor – make their Major League debut.
