The Fayetteville SwampDogs have announced a new and upcoming event premiering at JP Riddle Stadium in the Spring. Fun-Go and friends are inviting the community and fans big and small to enjoy two big screen movies on the field, one in April and one in May. Saturday, April 13th, the SwampDogs will show the movie, "Rookie Of The Year," a 1993 film depicting 12-year-old Henry Rowengartner. After a freak accident, Henry finds he has a "Major League" arm and is signed by the Chicago Cubs.
The April 13th will have an added special guest; the SwampDogs are bringing out Thomas Ian Nicholas, who played Rowegartner in the 1993 feature. While at The Swamp, Nicholas will be available to sign autographs, take pictures, conduct a Q&A with fans and introduce the movie.
Thomas Ian Nicholas has been a mainstay in Hollywood since he broke onto the scene in 1988 during an episode of "Who's The Boss?". In addition to Nicholas's role "Rookie Of The Year," he was featured in the 1995 movie " A Kid in King Arthur's Court." In 1999, Nicholas landed the part of Kevin Myers in "American Pie." He would reprise that role in the three follow up "American Pie" movies that followed.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to expand on an already exciting upcoming Summer of fun. "Rookie Of The Year" has been a favorite of mine since I saw it in theaters and a great movie to show our fans of all ages. Thomas Ian Nicholas is a tremendously nice guy and I know our fans will love this opportunity to meet him and share their memories with him," SwampDogs Assistant General Manager, Clint Narramore said. "One of our goals is to ensure our fans create lasting memories all year, and I believe that this event will do just that."
Tickets will be available soon!
