SwampDogs Defy Nature, Invite ’Cats to Play

The Fayetteville SwampDogs are pleased to announce the signing of Ohio Bobcats Tanner Piechnick and Trevor Hafner to the 2018 roster.

Piechnick, who bats and throws right-handed, has seen action behind the plate and in left field in his two seasons with the Bobcats. After batting .258 over 27 games last season, the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania native posted a .277 batting average and blasted eight home runs this year. The 6-0, 195 lb. sophomore also saw his on-base percentage and slugging percentage improve to .353 and .484 in 2018, compared to .351 and .348 last season.

Hafner is new to the Bobcats' program after starring at Sinclair Community College in 2017. The right-handed sophomore hit .371 last year, mashed 8 home runs, drove in 57 runs and stole 15 bases before transferring to Ohio. The 5-11, 187 lb. shortstop from Perrysburg, Ohio played in 48 games for the Bobcats so far, batting .226 with a home run and 20 RBIs.

Both players will be a big part of the SwampDogs quest for the Petitt Cup, which begins May 29 at the Swamp.
