The Fayetteville SwampDogs are pleased to announce the signing of pitcher Josh Avila for the 2018 season.
Avila, a 5-11, 180 lb. junior at the University of the Cumberlands, had a brief stint at The Swamp in 2017, going 1-0 with a 1.12 ERA in 3 appearances for the Dogs. The right-hander shined, striking out 10 and walking just 1 in 8 innings pitched.
Avila, who spent two seasons at Mt. San Antonio College before transferring, has appeared in 7 games in 2018 for the Patriots and enjoyed similar success. The San Dimas, California native is 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 37 strikeouts over 35 innings of work.
The SwampDogs look forward to Avila's return to The Swamp, with the season set to begin in on Tuesday, May 29.
