The Fayetteville SwampDogs are pleased to announce the signing of Middle Georgia State University pitcher Jared Crews for the 2018 season.
Crews is in his fourth year of eligibility, having transferred to Middle Georgia State after two years at South Georgia State College. The 5-9, 180 lb. native of Sanderson, Florida has the ability to pitch and play shortstop, although he has worked almost exclusively as a pitcher this season. Through 62 innings pitched so far in 2018, the right-hander has a 6-3 record and 3.77 ERA along with a solid strikeout-to-walk ratio of 45:21.
"Jared gives us added depth in our rotation," said SwampDogs head coach Matt Hollod. "He pounds the strike zone with multiple pitches and continues to keep hitters off balance."
Crews will be part of a strong group of pitchers for the SwampDogs this summer. The season kicks off on Tuesday, May 29, at The Swamp.
