The Fayetteville SwampDogs were very proud to present a donation of $2,140 to the Special Olympics of Cumberland County late Wednesday afternoon.
The SwampDogs would like to thank our fans for their tremendous support of the Spare Change for Special Olympics program. Each year receptacles are placed outside the concession windows at “The Swamp” and fans are encouraged to drop their spare change in to be donated to the Special Olympics.
The donations to the Special Olympics of Cumberland County provide travel, uniforms, equipment and many other items to allow the athletes to compete without any cost to them.
“We are extremely proud of the athletes here in Cumberland County, and also of the fans that participate in the program when they purchase their concession items during the summer,” said SwampDogs general manager Jeremy Aagard. “I’m a member of the local committee for Special Olympics and I get to see first hand how the donations are put to use. When we have the opportunity to speak with the athletes following an event and see how proud they are, it makes it all worthwhile. What a tremendous organization to be able to partner with and we look forward to many more years of working with Special Olympics.”
