SwampDogs Announce New Voice for 2013

FAYETTEVILLE – The SwampDogs are pleased to announce that Nick Marek will be joining the team to run the broadcast department and announce all home and away games.

“I’m so humbled to be a part of such a prestigious team in the Coastal Plain League and I cannot wait to start working with the Fayetteville SwampDogs,” Marek said.

Nick Marek is a rising senior studying journalism and mass communication at Arizona State University. Despite going to school out west, Marek has lived in Chapel Hill since he was four years old so he understands what North Carolina baseball is all about.

While at Arizona State, he broadcasted a handful of baseball games for the Pac-12 Network and for the student-run Blaze radio station. He said he had a knack for sports broadcasting ever since middle school and that he hopes to one day be a professional play-by-play announcer in either baseball or hockey.

“One of the reasons I’m so excited about this summer is that I will be living out my dream,” Marek said. “I’m not only confident about my career, but that I will be able to bring some new things to this organization.”

As a junior, Marek co-founded the Walter Cronkite Sports Network (WCSN) with a few of his peers and he is currently the broadcasting Vice President of the department. The WCSN is a group of aspiring sports journalists who cover ASU athletics.

The SwampDogs newest broadcaster used his club to produce a variety of print and online sports stories. He is also one of the website managers of Cronkite Sports.

Lastly, Marek is a featured baseball, hockey, and football writer for House of Sparky, a Sports Blog Nation affiliate.

Marek mentioned that he wants the SwampDogs’ community to reach out to him at any time if they have any concerns or questions because he wants to give some of the best fans in Carolina the coverage they deserve.
