Pepperdine Wave Comes Ashore at The Swamp


Fayetteville, N.C. – – – The Fayetteville SwampDogs have signed a young, talented arm for the 2017 season in Pepperdine University freshman right-handed pitcher Trevor Franklin (Manhattan Beach, Calif.). Franklin entered his first collegiate campaign in 2017 coming off a decorated career at Mira Costa High School in his hometown of Manhattan Beach.

At Mira Costa, Franklin posted a 27-7 career record with 205 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA in 232 total innings pitched. He was named the Mira Costa Pitcher of the Year, Bay League Pitcher of the Year, earned All-Area first team accolades and was a Perfect Game honorable mention in his junior and senior seasons.

Franklin holds the Mira Costa High School record for most innings pitched (75) and wins (11) in a single season. He was a three-time letter winner during his varsity baseball tenure. Franklin was also a member of the USA Junior Olympic Championship team and took third place at the Jupiter National Tournament.

“Trevor will be competing for a starting role this summer with us,” said SwampDogs head coach Matt Hollod.  “He had an outstanding high school career and is now turning heads at Pepperdine.”
