FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Austin Edgette (Bloomsburg) and Griffin McLarty (College of Charleston) represented the Fayetteville SwampDogs as CPL Select Team picks in a game that pitted the Coastal Plain League’s best against some of the best college players from the United States. The CPL continued to stake its claim as the premier college summer league, trouncing the red, white, and blue 10-0.
Edgette scored a run, as the lead-off man for the CPL side, while McLarty pitched one inning out of the bullpen, without allowing a hit to the Collegiate National Team. The two players now head to Peninsula where they’ll join their SwampDogs’ teammates for the second game of a two-game road trip versus the Pilots.
The SwampDogs return to The Swamp on Wednesday for Super Hero night against the Morehead City Marlins. First pitch is at 7:05 with the gates opening at 6.
