One year after spending a summer at “The Swamp,” Ball State’s Blake Beemer is one of the 15 finalists to compete in the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.

The Fan’s Choice Award recognizes college baseball players who inspire their team, school and community through their teamwork, leadership and integrity.

The outfielder graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration and a 3.64 GPA. Beemer is currently pursuing his Masters in Business Administration.

Beemer was the first three-year captain for head coach Rick Maloney and he worked as a player-intern for the SwampDogs in 2012.

He lead the entire Ball State student body in “student rewards points,” which he earned for attending the most athletic events. The Dayton, Ohio native was active in serving his community throughout his four year college tenure and he was a member of Ball State’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Beemer recently completed his senior year with the Cardinals where he had a career .296 average and finished his senior season with two home runs and 30 RBIs. He led the Ball State team with 16 doubles so he picked up right where he left off with the SwampDogs.

Last summer, Beemer played in a team-high 49 games where he had four extra base hits and 24 RBIs.

You can vote for Beemer on Facebook and the winner will be decided on July 4th.
