FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville SwampDogs are set to become the longest-running sports franchise in city history, and the 2015 season promises to be the best one yet. One of the most notable differences this season is the new-look concession stand at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
Located along the first-base side of the concourse, the main concession stand has been remodeled to increase the speed and efficiency of service. The four small service areas of old have been combined into two spacious service areas, allowing for more fans to be served at a time. This means you spend less time in line and more time enjoying the best family fun and entertainment Fayetteville has to offer this summer.
“We’re really excited about the new-look concession stand and about enhancing the overall fan experience,” said SwampDogs general manager Jeremy Aagard. “We wouldn’t be around for this long without the support of our fans, and we’re always striving to make their visit to ‘The Swamp’ the best it can possibly be.”
In addition to the new look of the concession stand, the SwampDogs will be serving up some new food choices this year as well. Making their debuts on the menu this season will be Mac and Cheese Bites, breaded and fried balls of everyone’s favorite treat; Onion Rings; and a new sauce called Dinger Sauce, a little spicy, a little tangy, and all delicious.
As always, the SwampDogs will serve all-beef Nathan’s Hot Dogs and 100% Angus Beef Burgers, which fans will be able to top with the Mac and Cheese Bites or Dinger Sauce for a twist that will delight your taste buds.
“Our team President Lew Handelsman grew up working in a deli in New York, so having quality food in our concession stand is always something he has stressed,” said Aagard. “We’re very proud of the food we serve, and with our new additions this year, our menu is as exciting as it’s ever been.”
The Fayetteville SwampDogs are in their 15th season playing in the Coastal Plain League. The SwampDogs are one of the most successful franchises in the league’s history, making the Petitt Cup Playoffs eight times in the past 10 seasons, reaching the championship round three times. The SwampDogs boast 84 alumni taken in the draft and have produced six players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball. The SwampDogs open their season on Tuesday, May 26th with a 7:05 pm tilt with the Morehead City Marlins at J.P. Riddle Stadium. The Coastal Plain League is the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 19th season in 2015, the CPL features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. The CPL has had over 1,200 alumni drafted and 78 of those – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut; while another notable alum – Russell Wilson – won Super Bowl XLVIII.
