The SwampDogs announce the addition of sophomore spark plug Michael Bozarth from Saint Louis University. The 6-0, 185-pound outfielder from Creve Coeur, Mo. played a key part in the Billiken’s 2013 NCAA Tournament run to the Columbia regional.
Prior to the 2014 season, Bozarth was named to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference team, earning second team honors. So far during the 2014 season Bozarth has already stolen seven bases while accumulating a .406 on-base percentage, helped by drawing nine walks and seven hit by pitches. He has also recorded two outfield assists while starting all 14 of the Billikens games this season.
Starting in center field as a freshman, Bozarth scored 42 runs, the second highest freshman total at Saint Louis, while hitting for a .302 average and .866 OPS. Bozarth showed some power late in the season when it counted, hitting all three of his home runs in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship tournament, helping Saint Louis University cross the 40-win plateau for the season.
“Having an outfielder as dynamic as Michael gives us added depth and weapons in the outfield,” said SwampDogs head coach David Tufo. “He brings tools on both sides of the ball that make him a valuable player for us.”
